Putting Your Life On Hold

Have you ever found yourself waiting to do something until you fulfill something else in your life? You may have been through something similar, and not have realized it. My experience with this is very familiar, as I have done this on multiple occasions.

I married my husband at the age of 34. We had been dating 10 years before that. I always knew he was the one and that I wanted to spend my life with. But yet, there was a feeling of hesitation whenever I thought about taking the “next step” towards marriage.

The hesitation I felt revolved around the thoughts I was having about my life. I wanted things to be perfect before making any big moves with my life. I thought I needed to have more money, have a more meaningful career, lose weight, etc etc. I was wanting to have all of these other things, because having them would make me more worthy.

I have since learned that the perfect time is when you choose it. And here I thought I would get a heavenly sign from above, and that it would be magical. But the reality is that it was more of a leap of faith than a certainty-filled action.

Living out our goals and dreams is exciting and terrifying! I was not aware of this, and so I was waiting for all the feelings to be positive and aligned with what I wanted. The truth is that anything big we want for ourselves is going to be met with hesitation. That is our human brain who wants us to remain safe and sound.

If you want to grow into your potential, you have to endure the negative thoughts that will surely follow. Stop waiting for everything to be perfect for you to make your next move. The reality is, perfect doesn’t exist. You can start right now exactly from where you are. Challenge yourself to grow, and stop putting your life on hold.

If you want more for yourself, you need to take action, it will not come by waiting around in inaction.
